BIOGRAPHY
Eve's Plum is a New-York based female-fronted pop band formed in 1991. Michael and Colleen had a class together at NYU, and he noticed her, thinking she was a singer (in actuality, she was a dancer/actress who starred as "Amber" in the John Water's 1988 film, "Hairspray"). Several months later, Michael and his twin brother, Ben, placed an ad in search of a female vocalist and a bass player for their band. By sheer coincidence, Colleen answered the ad. It had always been her dream to be a singer, she just never got the chance to do so because she never found a band that played a type of music she was actually into. The guys liked her, and she was in.
They finally found a bass player named Christopher Giammalvo and signed up with Sony after one year of playing around the East coast. Chris left the band after the release of Envy in 1993 and a tour with Eleven to support the album. Theo came along when a friend told him to go check the band out on the first night of a visit to New York. Six months later, he was playing with them.
Eve's Plum went back on tour with Dig and Tripping Daisy. In April of 1994, they performed the enchanting song, "Eye", in the John Singleton film, "Higher Learning" (This is probably the best song on the soundtrack). In 1995, the band began a two month recording session for their next album, "Cherry Alive". Cherry Alive is a great album, but to this day, Eve's Plum still does not get the recognition they deserve. Also recorded in 1995 was their contribution to the album "Spirit Of '73: Rock For Choice", with a Plummy version of Yvonne Elliman's "If I Can't Have You".
Eve's Plum's last project took the form of a cover song for "Save A Prayer" in the Duran Duran Tribute Album.
Eve's Plum now almost seems like a wonderful band that only existed in our dreams. No matter what, we will always have Eve's Plum's wonderful music as memories of a great band that should have been known throughout the world, but never was. Michael and Ben are now playing for other bands, Theo no longer plays the bass, and Colleen has already begun her solo career. I was just informed about her solo career by Dave, thanks Dave. :) According to this source, Colleen is now known as "Vitamin C". Her full length album is not due until August, but her single, "Smile" is out now. You can see the video and full length real audio here.
